About Us

About Us

The Movement For Life® Team is made up of locally managed clinics, regionally named San Luis Sports Therapy, Delta Physical Therapy, Central Valley Physical Therapy, Athlon Physical Therapy and Avid Physical Therapy. Established in 1959 as San Luis Sports Therapy and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in San Luis Obispo, California, the Team is currently comprised of close to 200 team members from diverse backgrounds striving to improve the lives of those they touch. Boasting Board Certified, Doctoral educated practitioners; the Movement For Life® team is able to apply current and effective treatment paradigms in a healthy, healing atmosphere, encouraging progress.

The Movement For Life® Team operates under a unique “Collaborative Model” where the motto “All for one and one for all!” rings true.  All of the profits generated by our Team are invested back into our Company and the Communities we serve rather than being siphoned off to owners or corporate shareholders. Team members receive annual “profit sharing” contributions in addition to the robust creation of opportunities tailored to team members’ specific goals and aspirations. We work together towards common goals for mutual benefit!

The company headquarters continue to be located in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California on the Central Coast with quality rehabilitation services provided in convenient locations throughout California and Arizona. In San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties, we are known as San Luis Sports Therapy and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. In the San Joaquin Valley our clinic is known as Central Valley Physical Therapy and in the delta region of California, we are known as Delta Physical Therapy. In Arizona we are known as Athlon Physical Therapy and at our newest location in the Coachella Valley of California we operate as Avid Physical Therapy. The Movement For Life® Team continues to be owned and operated by physical therapists.

Backpack Screenings
San Luis Sports Therapy is helping to eliminate back injuries and poor posture in our youth. Each year, San Luis Sports Therapy visits local elementary schools and conducts FREE backpack screenings for all children. We help teach children the proper way to wear a backpack as well as tips on how to avoid carrying too much weight at one time. For more information on how you can get your child’s school involved, please contact Jenna Healy at (805) 788-0805, ext. 206 or email jenna@slsportstherapy.com.

Athletic Training
The American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Athletic Trainers Association recommend that high school athletes nationwide have daily access to appropriate medical care. San Luis Sports Therapy is proud to answer this call at schools in our local communities. In cooperation with team physicians, our certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are on-site daily to provide care to over 4500 athletes at the following high schools:

  • San Luis Obispo High School
  • Mission College Prep High School
  • Paso Robles High School
  • Templeton High School
  • Morro Bay High School
  • Arroyo Grande High School
  • Nipomo High School
  • Galt High School

ATCs are NOT the same as personal trainers. They are health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. The athletic trainer prepares and provides coverage of sports practices and games, manages acute and chronic injuries, and coordinates additional care with local physicians and our physical therapy offices. The SLST Athletic Training Program also assists with Cal Poly Club Sports teams, and other athletic events within the community.

For more information about these athletic training programs, or to learn how to start one at your high school, contact stacey.ritter@slsportstherapy.com.
