Community Events


San Luis Sports Therapy, Delta Physical Therapy and Central Valley Physical Therapy are very involved with their local communities and the residents they serve. We provide several different types of community related services throughout the year and are proud to sponsor numerous local events. It is our goal to provide not only rehabilitation services for medical conditions and injuries but to provide education and training on health and wellness topics pertinent to the needs of the community. Community Services

Wellness Seminars/Screenings
Throughout the year, the company offers several free health and wellness lectures and screenings to the residents of their local communities. The lecture/screening topics vary from specific medical conditions such as Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy and Osteoporosis to general health and wellness information on topics such as preventing falls, back pack screens for children and blood pressure checks. These lectures and screenings are updated and posted regularly on our website.

Health & Wellness Newsletter
The company provides a FREE Health & Wellness newsletter called the “Movement For Life”® to the California communities of San Luis Obispo, Northern Santa Barbara, Kern, and San Joaquin Counties. The newsletter is packed full of helpful information on medical conditions and treatments, sports medicine and health & wellness information. Company Volunteer Program
The company currently sponsors all of our full-time employees to volunteer one day per year at a local health related event or organization. This program was adopted in 2005. Soon we will be posting a list of the organizations that our employees have volunteered at thus far.

Athletic Training Program
San Luis Sports Therapy currently sponsors local high school athletics by offering athletic training services to the high schools in San Luis Obispo County. Our employees are certified athletic trainers that work with the high school athletes at the high schools, game events and in our clinics.

National MS Society
(San Luis Obispo County, CA) – San Luis Sports Therapy is working with the National MS Society to provide facilities and services for expansion of the National MS Society’s Wellness Program into San Luis Obispo County. This will result in a number of programs and services available to people with MS, as well as a much larger community of individuals with other diagnosis (including diabetics, stroke victims, and cancer patients among others).

SLO Blues Baseball
San Luis Sports Therapy has been a proud sponsor of the SLO Blues Baseball team since 2002.



1st Annual Hammerfest Mountain Bike Race
The 1st Annual Hammerfest Mountain Bike Race took place in San Luis Obispo the first weekend in November of 2004. All proceeds go to support the efforts of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2005 this event changed its name to the Candy Corn Classic. The ride encompassed 3 different rides including a Century Ride. We had over 100 riders and were able to raise $5000.00 for the National MS Society. This years 2006 Candy Corn Classic is well under way and will be held on October 28 2006.



Annual Health Fair
Held on the October 28th in coordination with the Candy Corn Classic. In partnership with Athlon Health and Fitness, San Luis Sports Therapy co-sponsors an Annual Health Fair to bring greater awareness of Health and Fitness opportunities for members of the community. The Health Fair includes a number of free health screenings, sample products, and information on local products and services designed to enhance health and wellness. In 2006, the health fair will be focusing on Women’s Health.



Wounded Warrior Project
San Luis Sports Therapy, Downtown Brewing Company and Athlon Health & Fitness were proud to sponsor the 1st annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on August 19th in San Luis Obispo. The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations around the world. We are holding this event for the first time so we can raise funds and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project and support our nation’s heroes.

The event had seventy people play in the tournament and raised nearly 10,000 for the project. Many local businesses donated generous prizes to the event.

Run for Recovery
Central Valley Physical Therapy is proud to be an annual sponsor for the Run for Recovery in Bakersfield in 2004. The event raised approximately $2000.00 each year. The funds are used for upcoming years and to provide scholarships to young elementary and high school runners.



Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
San Luis Sports Therapy sponsored a young lady in 2004 to run a marathon to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To learn more about this sponsorship, visit www.teamintraining.org

Lucia Mar Elementary School Annual Track Meet
San Luis Sports Therapy is proud to sponsor the Lucia Mar Unified School District Elementary School’s annual track meet by providing the award ribbons to the participants.

American Diabetes Foundation
Delta Physical Therapy was proud to be a sponsor of the Diabetes walk in 2004. Collectively our three Delta offices raised over $1000 for their local chapter.

Goldwave Golf Open 2005
Central Valley Physical Therapy sponsored this event whose proceeds go towards providing scholarships for swimmers.

Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Foundation 2005
Central Valley Physical Therapy sponsored this event to assist with funding for the pediatric neonatal services unit at the hospital.

Candy Corn Classic San Luis Sports Therapy and Athlon Health & Fitness lent a helping hand in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis last Saturday. The first annual Candy Corn Classic Charity Bike Ride and Community Health Fair proved to be a huge success, bringing in more than $5000 for our local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
